Source and Purity of Sorbic Acid

The sorbic acid found in ReMag and ReMyte comes from the mountain ash berry tree. Many aspects of the farming methods used to produce the mountain ash berries from which the sorbic acid is derived can be considered organic. To label the ingredient as Organic requires third party certification. This is a costly affair. Given the usage rates and nature of the ingredient that is isolated from the ash berries, the manufacture elected not to seek third party certification. Please also be aware that Certified organic foods are not necessarily pesticide-free, certain pesticides are allowed in organic farming. Please see this article for a sound explanation.

The potential exposure risk to pesticides at the usage rate of  0.025% is infinitely small and was not of concern to us in selecting this source of sorbic acid. Being non GMO is more important in this case.
